Amelie

Amélie is a 2001 romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Its original French title is "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain" meaning "The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain". The film is a playful and depiction of contemporary Parisian life, set in Montmartre. It tells the tale of a shy waitress, played by Audrey Tautou, who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better, while struggling with her own loneliness.

This is one of my favorite films ever for various reasons. It's a feel good movie that has an interesting story line and shows a female lead character in a quirky role but not in a way that degrades her. Love is important to Amelie but it's not the main focus. She's an independent woman who takes it upon herself to do good for others while remaining true to herself. Amelie's style fits her offbeat yet adorable personality, and exudes a sense of beauty without being provocative. She's a great representation of the chic and pulled together French girl style.

Amelie's styling in the film is the epitome of 'less is more'. Her wardrobe is quite simple but with vibrant colors that pull the viewer in wanting to know more. It shows how interesting a person can be when they appear that they simply just threw an outfit on for comfort and functionality yet still keeping their look fresh. The signature colors that I feel symbolize the film's overall styling are red, green and black.

Here are examples of Amelie's look on the runways/fashion editorials:
