Walk the Line

The 2005 film "Walk the Line" chronicles legendary musician Johnny Cash's rise to fame in the music industry. From his country roots all the way to hitting it big and almost losing it all while fighting against his drug and alcohol addictions. As Cash struggled with balancing his career and his personal life while battling his demons, he is hopelessly in love with fellow country star June Carter. She was a tough and talented female singer who rose to fame as a child in a touring performance act with her family and then out on her own. Coming out of a divorce with two young daughters, June is trying to fly under the radar and play it safe while being a mother and a performer. June eventually gives up her fight and falls in love with Cash. Their love lasted until their dying days.

One of the best bio-pic films I've ever seen, Joaquin Phoenix (who plays Johnny) and Reese Witherspoon (who plays June) give excellent performances, both as actors and as musicians. It's a genuinely entertaining and heartwarming film that shows the struggles these two had but how love helped them through it.

The styling of Witherspoon's character June Carter Cash was really spot on with the time but also remained current. Beautiful 1950s/1960's clinched waist, feminine cocktail dresses will never go out of style and Witherspoon dazzled in each and every look. The styling of June really was representative of how Johnny looked at her. He saw her as this wonderful and perfect angel of a lady and her wardrobe in the film supported that. Always put together, classic, elegant yet comfortable and ready to hit the stage and not be 100% dainty.

Don't let the pretty little dresses fool you, June didn't seem like the type to just sit quietly and simply be cute. That seemed to be one of the many reasons Johnny Cash loved her until the day he died.

Here are different examples of June's look on the runway/in fashion editorials:
