ghost world

Ghost World is one of the most interesting, underrated and witty films around. Released in 2001, Ghost World (based on a comic book of the same name) follows the life of two teenage best friends named Enid and Rebecca. The two of them are anything but your typical high school movie best friends. They're outsiders, completely frustrated with the lackluster high school/post high school life in their boring suburban town. As in most friendships, growth occurs and since Rebecca and Enid are quite different, their friendship takes on different ups and downs.

Enid's style is by far the best in the film. Her hairstyles and funky fashion is without a doubt the third main star of the movie. Enid is angsty, smart and has her own outlook on everything about life. While the actual idea of the fashion industry is probably something that Enid would laugh at and shun, she absolutely embraces it without even knowing it. Her personal style reflects her character. It's a bit out there, attention seeking and also shows her frustration with everything generic. Enid is anything but generic.

Her colorful style is seen throughout her ever changing hair colors, retro thick black cat eye glasses, plaid skirts, band tshirts, combat boots and slouchy bags. Everything about her styling screams "I don't care but I do". There is clearly effort on her part but in the way that she (and so many girls out there like her) orchestrates it so no one thinks she thinks about fashion. Fashion is the best way to get an idea across about yourself without ever saying anything. An extremely opinionated and passionate character like Enid is someone who participates in that idea.

Here are some examples of Enid's style on the runways/editorials.

Here is my styling take on it
